The competitive brief outlined an ambitious vision for the creation of a new residential community centered around low-cost modular housing, situated on a large, undeveloped site. The goal was to design a forward-thinking urban environment that not only addressed the pressing need for affordable housing but also fostered a strong sense of community and connectivity. Participating teams were tasked with developing a comprehensive master plan that seamlessly integrated modular architectural typologies, innovative public spaces, and thoughtfully designed building forms. The overarching objective was to maximize pedestrian connectivity, encourage social interaction, and enhance the overall quality of community life.
The proposed city was envisioned as a dynamic and flexible urban landscape, featuring distinct residential districts that could evolve over time to meet the changing needs of their inhabitants. These districts would be designed with a high degree of adaptability, allowing residents to modify and personalize their living environments to suit their preferences and lifestyles. The master plan was guided by three core principles, each aimed at creating a responsive and inclusive community:
